  • Wait "crash 4: it's about time" Is somewhat recent and Rayman was a big part of the Netflix series "Captain Lazerhawk: a blood dragon remix". Banjo is the only forgotten one.

And even he got into Smash Bros just a year before Crash 4, so not the most forgotten character there is.

Banjo's lack of a new game is mainly because Nuts & Bolts crashed and burned. His titles after that have been pretty much re-releases (including NSO releases) of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, in a vein similar to Lunar with The Silver Star and Eternal Blue after Dragon Song got fus-ro-dah'd.

Rayman has been surprisingly relevant due to his consistent cameos in Ubisoft games such as Brawlhalla and the continued, aggravating, existence of his spinoff Rabbids, including their X-COM-esque Mario crossover.

  • Mm. I'd say it's less forgotten and more... mismanaged? And I'd put Spyro as the one returning rather than Crash, personally.

But if we want a real forgotten platformer mascot, probably Commander Keen fits the bill. Or Jak, oddly enough; kinda weird to think that he basically hasn't had a game since the PS2.

Both Epic (Commander Keen's owner via Apogee) and Naughty Dog (Jak's primary developer) have other things on their plate.

Doubtless. Just sort of musing to myself. And quietly fuming about soulless corporations.
