I concur with your assessment.

Few things are as quick an IRL turn-off for me as smoking, and fiction isn't much better. But Vanessa has such a very different vibe from the rest of the Partners (and even from everyone else I can remember Gamma drawing) and is still so relatable that I still like her a lot as a character and want to know her story and if she gets better, even if it's a long road to "better." She just makes me want to comfort her and build her up so she can genuinely smile.

And even when it's this tired of a smile, making a woman like this smile is a victory and the drive is strong to protect that smile at all costs.

Which is to say, despite things, I'm still as into this as before, maybe even a little more.

Ya know when the first page came out i thought she seemed a bit older than the previous partners. But i tossed that thought out & chalked it up to her looking so tired. Interesting to have my initial suspicion confirmed. I feel she's between her mid 30s or 40s, While the other partners all seemed to be in their 20s. Also is it me or is this page implying an age gap between her & the nameless character? She calls him youngster.

I wish I can place a safe bet on a number, but I'll be surprised/shocked if it's in the mid to late forties. And would rather bet one early to mid-thirties.
