Moving On + Announcement

"Save a seat for AT&T too, while we're on the subject!!"

I meant to upload this back in late July, but a lot things started coming up around that time going into August - Hurricane knocking on Florida's door, National Guard getting called up, dog dying, more Guard drills... Ugh...
Also, oh shit, Ren in actual, normal clothes.

So, to start with, back in early July, I get a notification from Patreon telling me to verify my identity, or my funds can no longer be cashed out again. I have bills that depend on that money, so, I had to bend at the knee and give them a photo of my ID, AND some of my peace of mind, as Patreon has had it's data breaches in the past. If you have even one breach, and I had to submit PII to your site? You've lost my fucking trust. I'm sure a lot of you can relate when I say I value my privacy and identity, and accept that it may already be floating around somewhere out there on the dark web as we speak, but this, does not help. Patreon has become yet another website I need to monitor for breaches, and in this case, one I won't be using anymore. I'll be unpublishing my page later today.

Sure, they say they delete those files after an X amount of time, but McDonalds also says they use real, white-meat chicken in their tasty nuggets.

Patreon has also been doing some knee-bending of their own too, bending to the people demanding we submit a copy of our ID in order to access a site with adult content. I can understand wanting to make sure adult content is kept away from minors, as that is a royal shitstorm NOBODY wants to deal with, but if you start to require that we surrender our anonymity on the internet for this safety, and you're not a bank, insurance company or government agency? Especially if you have had breaches in the past? Sorry, but, go fuck yourself. These pop-ups we get when accessing a site with 18+ content to verify we're of legal age or not is far from perfect and hardly foolproof of course, but so far, it's the best at not only ensuring we stay anonymous, but also a legal cover-your-ass for the site-owners.

There's also the possibility some kid can just grab their parent's ID, and since they'd obviously know how to use a phone and computer these days, upload that, and so if a data breach DOES happen to that site, their parents' identities are in danger. Stuff like this acts like kids aren't these crafty little gremlins who will try and find ANY way out of or around a situation that inconveniences them. There are way more losses than gains here.

This isn't helped that Patreon is beginning to overstep boundaries on content, and when they pushed out a controversial TOS update they failed to elaborate on, which led a lot of people to believe they were pulling a Tumblr and banning adult content. This only seemed to apply to actual photography and video content rather than fictional, illustrated media, ie. 2D or 3D, etcetera. But too late, the damage has been done. Of course, the fact that they're even going this route means it is a matter of time before they ultimately ban it all, whether it's fake or not.

So, I'm moving unto SubscribeStar for the time being, as they know to draw the line between fiction and non-fiction, porn being porn and whatever I draw being whatever it is. https://subscribestar.adult/renthedragonofficial

I am tracking that Subscribestar does give some folks issues as far as payment goes, and I am also looking for an additional way to get content to you all for supporting me. I'm entertaining Ko-Fi and Gumroad, but I am still doing research on these platforms, trying to see how other artists go about it first.

Also, a BIG thank you to all who supported me on Patreon, it helped a lot!

Waiting for subscribestar to become the new "s-site" on twitter lol. At least it sounds better than "p-site".
