A Mouse in Love

Story Excerpt

Charlie had known that he was gay ever since he was a kid. When his friends started talking about how they thought a certain female celebrity was hot, all he could do was nod along and pretend the sharp looks, big breasts, and caked-up ass of insert famous pretty woman of the time here did anything for him. They were attractive, sure, but the rodent’s amber eyes always landed on the celebrity’s husband whenever he was shown photos that had the both of them together.

The mouse’s fake celebrity crush back then was 2000s Colombian sitcom queen, Sofia Vergara. He picked her because she was popular. His friends didn’t question it and some of them even told him that he had ‘great taste’ in women. He chuckled every time he heard it. Once he had repeated his rehearsed line about her curves, ass, and tits enough times, he even started to believe it himself, which led him to stay in the closet a little longer than he would have had he just admitted that he was more into the likes of Zac Efron, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

He wanted to come out of the closet, but it wasn’t easy when you had friends who used “gay” to describe anything they disliked, a father who used “faggot” like it was his favorite word, and a mother who wanted nothing more than to have grandchildren that she could spoil He came out eventually, and while his mother was supportive and claimed that she ‘knew all along’, his father was less open-minded. Charlie’s relationship with him deteriorated as a result.

For a long time, the mouse thought that there was something wrong with him; when the only thing that had anything wrong with it was the world. If only he knew that in a few years, once he was a little older, wiser, and had more experience with life, everything was going to be all right.

Charlie had had a little over a handful of boyfriends over the years. Some were good, and some were bad. He could count on one hand the ones that were so good to him that he felt like he didn’t deserve them. Call him a gay tragedy, but his relationships had a tendency to not work out. Whether it was because he found himself so attracted to the “bad boys” who never treated him right, the mouse overthinking things and convincing himself that he wasn’t good enough for those who did, or his red flag-flying family that turned away boyfriends who just wanted to be a part of a “normal” family.

Oh, how he longed for the ones that got away.

Then he met Dylan, a shy, nerdy, and slightly introverted bunny boy; a huge departure from his usual stints of dicks and assholes, but cute boys with glasses and buck teeth like the nerd emoji were his thing, too.

It helped that the stereotype of “big-dicked dork” often rang true as well. Somewhat surprisingly, Charlie was incredibly turned on by having nerdy things whispered into his ear while he got thick pipe pumped into him from a geek who could barely control his hips once he started. Mathematical equations, video games, lore from both fictional and factual wars, you name it, it was fun hearing them try to keep their explanations coherent and correct as Charlie’s nose nestled in their pubes and his chin rested against their fat balls.

Oh, the joys of having your very own pent-up and stink-dicked nerd.

Dylan was a bit awkward on their first date, it came with the territory of being an introvert. He slowly opened up to the mouse over time, and by the time their second date had ended and he had dropped the mouse off back at home, he had already come up with plans for their third. Charlie had barely even made it inside his apartment when he received a text from the bun. The mouse pulled his phone out of his pocket as his key plunged halfway into the deadbolt on his door, and smiled as he read the text.

Dylan 🥕: Dinner next week? There’s this incredible place called Noir that I want you to try.

After reading the text, the mouse typed up his reply with one hand and pushed his key deeper into the door with the other. He turned the key twice to unlock it and turned it one more time to free the latch. He stood in front of his unlocked door for a few more seconds as his thumb finished up his reply. Once it was done, he hit send, pushed the door to his apartment inward, and went inside.

The mouse leaned his back against the door, closed it, and held his phone against his chest as a massive beaming smile spread on his face. His heart pounded in his chest and he took in slow and deep breaths through his nose to try and calm himself. But his efforts were fruitless as his cheeks turned red, his rodent tail curled into a cinnamon roll, and he stomped his feet against the ground like an overexcited schoolgirl. He even let out a cute little squeak to match, too.

Charlie was smitten; he really liked the bunny boy and did not want to fuck it up. He really did not want to fuck it up.

Charlie 🧀 : That sounds amazing. Should I meet you there?

It took Dylan 30 minutes to reply since he started driving home immediately after he sent the first text. Those were the longest 30 minutes in Charlie’s life.

Dylan 🥕: Don’t worry, it’s quite far. I’ll pick you up at 7.

Charlie’s smile got wider when he read Dylan’s reply. He responded with a quick thumbs-up emoji and brought his phone to his chest again. He looked up at the ceiling and stared at the light in his entryway for a little too long before he pushed himself from the door. A small crack came from the mouse’s vertebrae when moved away from the door and he let out a groan.

‘Crk.’

“Argh!”

Standing with his back against his door for the entirety of those 30 minutes probably wasn’t the best idea ever.
