Tranquilizing

Days of walking had led the family to a clearing in the middle of the marsh, which was being inhabited by refugees like them, some even from their old village, who welcomed them with open arms. Though the house they were now inhabiting was not as big or as filled as their old home, they at least now had a home they could call their own, a fact that provided the hunter and his family much safety and happiness. But what made the battle-scarred hunter even more happy was seeing his son excitedly taking in his surroundings and learning new skills, his wife never wavering from all the horrors they've been through and having weaved a new ceremonial postnatal cloak, and finally, his hatchling eating healthy and growing in the safety of a loving family.
