    This week's fun animal fact: The Komodo Dragon can go up to a month without eating, and can eat up to 80% of its bodyweight in a single meal. They store fat in their tails, which can also release water through metabolic activity to help them through droughts. If they have just eaten a large meal and are being chased, they are able to throw up their last meal to lighten themselves for an easier escape

    Fun fact, those abilities also show up in other reptiles, like geckos who store fat in their tails, which makes the act of leaving their tail behind for distraction even more of a risk, and snakes that vomit up recent prey, though all in one piece seeing as they swollow their prey whole while Komodo’s tend to rip off meat and swallow.
