Look, I'm playing devil's advocate here, but Carlos definitely has a point here; hiding in a closet for a long time in a relationship will inevitabely result in issues and disagreements that can deter the bond between the two, it can harm the trust and image that they have and can even make it break up, getting out of the closet is a necessary step for Paul to continue with Thomas, in my opinion.

...but, by the way Carlos says it I can't help but feel he's doing it on purpose to make Thomas ditch Paul and return with him, but I guess only time will tell if his intentions are goodhearted or not.

Not everyone breaks up with their ex because they didn't work well. First guy I dated we broke up because we didn't have enough time for each other. We're still friends.
