So, either same gender or.... Oblivious ability... right?

Xatu has Magic Bounce so all stat lowering attacks has no effect such as Attract.

Attract is not a stat-lowering attack - infatuation is a status condition.

A stat-lowering attack would be Growl or Screech.

  • Flash, capitivate, and confined (if Espeon is a male and posing like that) would of been more funny.

Acctually Attract lowers your attack and special attack against that pokémon. So still a stat lowering attack, same as Xatu seem to be immune against all type of status attacks overall.

No, it doesn't. Attract doesn't, and has never, adjust(ed) a Pokemon's stats whatsoever. All it does is make it very difficult to hit.

Attract naturally fails against targets that are the same gender as the user in any case, so Xatu being unaffected would be because the Espeon's male. And in any case, Gen 2 doesn't have abilities, so even if Magic Bounce did affect it (it doesn't) it wouldn't be an issue in Gen 2.

Do some basic research before you make a statement. I've played enough Pokémon to know you're telling whoppers.

    https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Attract_(move) lets see

"If the target is the opposite gender of the Pokémon who launched the move, the target becomes infatuated. If the move is used on a Pokémon that is the same gender as the user, it will fail. It will also fail if used by or on a genderless Pokémon. If the foe Pokémon holds a Destiny Knot and then becomes infatuated, the user will fall under the same effect. Unlike most status moves, this move will affect a target with a substitute.

Pokémon with the Ability Oblivious or under the protection of Aroma Veil are immune to the effects of Attract.

If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Attract, all of the user's lowered stats are reset."

    "Does not make contact
    Affected by Protect
Affected by Magic Coat and Magic Bounce
    Not affected by Snatch
    Affected by Mirror Move
    Not affected by King's Rock"

Oh look, what is that? Oh Attract is a STATUS ATTACK. Oh guess what Status attacks don't affect Xatu, looks like I am more correct than you. So take your own advice buddy.

You're replying to a post that was made prior to the existence of Normalium-Z, which only was added in Sun/Moon.

And, again, Abilities did not exist in Generation 2, meaning Xatu did not have that immunity (this image is referencing TPP's GSC run). Even if it did, Magic Bounce didn't exist until White/Black.

  • And, as an adjunct, Hidden Bounce is NOT a guaranteed ability for Natu/Xatu - their natural abilities are either Synchronise (which won't bounce Attract) or Early Bird (which is irrelevant to Attract). Magic Bounce is a Hidden Ability, which means the Natu/Xatu has to be acquired through out-of-game means (event or Dream World/later-gen equivalent).

Again, none of this is relevant to this picture because the picture was drawn in the context of Gold/Silver/Crystal, which predates the Ability system as a whole.
