MemberI'm not even sure the artist's original webpage is up, his name was Silverfish, and these pictures are around 15 years old, though he has around 30-40 photomorphs, not all of which are as cute as this.
He also did a bunch of weird things, like snails. I'm confused, because I thought I had saved his collection to my computer, but I can't find them.
Here's another two of his pictures...

I'll see if I can find his whole collection and upload them.

Memberphotos like this weren't possible in 94... unless they were airbrushed, hell windows 3.1 was a household name that long ago, and paintbrush was a bit less than capable of such a feat. now 2003 2004 i could see...
Marbles
MemberWell, I seem to remember seeing them for the first time around 11 years ago.
I think you underestimate the capacity of older computers. I believe the first photoshop version came out in 1990...

MemberNo, I know their capacity, but the level of detail in this picture is astounding. That's not random placement of fur. That's rendered, and to do something like this back then would have needed an onyx box or better even up to some of the original pixar rendering equipment.
To have this level of genius back then would make you a very incredibly rich man today...
Hell pixar itself only started making things this well recently as late as Monster Inc.
That's why I say it can't be that old. Airbrushing I could see, it was more affordable then, and very doable. It could achieve this end with a very skilled hand.

MemberMy best guess is that these were made sometime around 1997-98. Photoshop back then MIGHT have been able to pull off a few of these images, with a little bit of editing manually. The really good ones were probably made a year or two later, on better software.

MemberYou can replicate this look with textured brushes and a minimal amount of talent with a clone stamp tool and a picture of a cat. You people are seriously delusional if you think this is some sort of epic pixar-level rendering and not amateur-level photoshop work you do in first year graphic design courses.
