Literally my least favorite comic strip in out newspaper rn!
" America (The Book), mocks Fillmore's use of Strawman Political rants in lieau of humor by posting a satirical Fillmore strip that begins with Fillmore talking about something that bugs him, and ending on the last panel with "Oops! I forgot to tell a joke!" Bruce Tinsley, the comic's author, didn't take this well, and proceeded to make a follow-up strip specifically blasting Jon Stewart."
Imagine seeing the mildest, most whitebread criticism someone could possibly make and freaking out about it to that extent.

Not seen it yet, but just now imagined versions for 1930's/40's/50's people. i.e. Red scare, the great Imperial menace (US/England and their allies), some internal enemy or scapegoat, and so on. And no, I am not going to draw any of them. XD
Oh, haha, I see. https://rubbercat.net/artduck/05.html Lies! He did, too! I'll have you know that America has been discovered by each wave of immigrants for at least 10 millennia! (joke)
Seriously, though, history textbooks were horribly inaccurate on this when I was a kid. They totally ignored anyone who wasn't from Western or Southern Europe. :( I can see where the author is making fun of this.
