Modern AU - Car Jump

Trace helps out to recharge Keith and Nat's ride, suggested by Feralcat52!

Nat would have but the two must have been out of mana crystals. Maybe they were just heading to the Squirrelmart to buy a few packs.

  • Booth Trace and Natani are drawn like in Backstage AU. Does that mean that's cannon to Modern AU?

At least this model doesn't explode.....

It does, however, have an alarming tendency to become sentient when unapproved spells are cast on it.

    >magic energy is common, everywhere, easy to obtain, ready to use, and endlessly renewable
    >make car that runs on stuff you have to find, dig up, move to place that separates it into usable compounds, move it to a place that sells it, burn it, and keep searching for more because it's not renewable

I might be overthinking this, but it seems very odd to me to use fossil fuel when magic is common and well-understood

Trace is literally charging it with magic right there.

Natani relies on mana crystals for magic which are exhaustible if overused since they only grow around dragons and cannot be recharged or they'll shatter.
Keith is unable to use magic by nature so having something battery powered works in this scenario.

Because it looks more like some sort of fuel engine than electric to me, with the stacked layout of the motor block and (low detail) open front grill

Besides, while some electric cars have empty engine bays (called frunks), majority of non-DIY/-homebrew electric vehicles have the motors under the body, or in the wheels, putting all the power stuff in the engine bay/out of sight, and the battery pack under the vehicle

My guess is more on him recharging the starter battery

There is a gas price sign in the topleft background, and they wouldn't sell it if they didn't use it for something (not confirmed to be car fuel, but very likely)
