    Add to it that if you fight long enough, she "gives up" when she's down to about 1/3rd HP and you do a crit of several hundred HP.

    I was trying to see if I could lower her strength and then show her mercy or talk her out of it... needless to say, my first playthrough didn't go well.

    If you haven't looked it up already, the solution is to just keep showing her mercy.

    And mercy.

    And mercy.

    Even when it doesn't look like it's working, don't give up.

    After all, you can show mercy without fighting or running away.

    Don't you worry, I did that on my next playthrough, then I learned of the hate for Flowey... and understood a bit more about the lore.

    This and its counterpart image are what first introduced me to Undertale. The duality behind it got my interest piqued for the demo and the rest is history.
