Description
Omo's Story

Is supposed to he have been born in the year one hundred and seventy-nine. His mother came from the north, almost where that kind of great peninsula joins the mainland (see maps), from a small dwarf village at the base of some mountains. It was one of several small settlements that surrounded the great rocks, founded by Mistêmbecor (1) dwarf faction.

3 Irumithu (Elven Language: "Sonar Waves")
3* Tharamatipi (Elven Language: “Dreamed Skin”)
4 Apapkiwan (Human Language: “Hill Seen”)
5 Ponondur (Human Language: “Eastern Empires”)

A dwarven faction that accepted the cursed powers of undeath, as seems to be the case with everyone who is someone in this land, but supposedly those dwarves did so openly as goblins. Almost all the dwarfs who lived there did not live.
The dwarves there called him and his mother Ngitkarudos Igëremär, and those were the names he knew. He was only a few months old at the time, all he knows now of it are images and other fragments of memories… which he later shaped with what others told him.

Farther north are still goblin pits of decay, ruled by green witches, if not worse. Xubngespamxu (2) call themselves. They raided the dwarf villages, taking several as prisoners… or slaves, her mother fled south taking him with her. She crossed the Abalmigrur (“Pale Ocean”), somehow: with nothing but what she was wearing and with his son in her arms, and reached the elven territories of the so-called Isi-Othana ("Eastern Band"). She was received in Tharamatipi (3*) but not long after she died on the healers' beds.
He now an orphan had to stay there, swear loyalty to the Druids of Irumithu (3) who ruled that elven village, join others "more than animals" and work as a contribution of gratitude in exchange for hospitality and adoption, since for them now he was one more of his “animal companions”, united in brotherhood… but as younger brothers who owed obedience to their older brothers. There the elves called him Nenitionino Mimalefela.
He spent a year there, but he met another one like him, another Nenitionino Mimalefela, and she told him about a friend, Imepe Minafela, a female fox born there, who was gathering a few to discreetly depart. During a noon they met with Neni, a male fox apparently Imepe's friend who came from a human village and who would guide Imepe, and those who went with her, to a new life.

The journey on foot lasted a few days, but Omo and the others finally reached a small settlement of humans, called Apapkiwan (4) and founded only that year by settlers from the human faction of Ponondur (5). There they were received with interest by those humans, Neni explained that their race was scarce and the leader wanted to help protect them and encourage their development there as an exotic good. Still, there was work to be done, like everywhere else, so Omo dedicated himself to doing the same thing he remembered seeing his mother do: fishing.
That was a much more peaceful life than he had had to lead up to that point: it was a much smaller village than the one his mother lived in, so it didn't take as much work to feed the few mouths there. It was even quite a bit smaller than the elven village he had left behind. One more year passed, in which Omo received a new name, this time from the humans, Omo Edinabo Ombadik, and to everyone's liking he and his race mate, who herself had chosen the human word "Anba" as the name to be called, had paired up, giving rise to a pair of offspring; just like Imepe and Neni who had done the same.
Omo lived happily and peacefully, and accepted the word Omo as his name.

But the human leader of that village sent for him. In his personal office there was already a stern-looking dwarf standing in a corner, who gave Omo a full head-to-toe look without saying anything.
The leader of Apapkiwan told him about a gladiatorial tournament that had been taking place far to the west, and that he wished to send someone to participate. He had Omo in mind because none of his settlers had any kind of martial training and, although neither did Omo, he was the one who had the greatest potential only because of his great agility, youth and athletic body even without having trained. Even if he didn't manage to go through all the stages of that tournament, by winning one or two rounds he would already be making considerable profits that would be useful for the development of Apapkiwan, but more important than that would be that the mere participation would put the town on the map and that little fame achieved would be enough to attract new settlers and perhaps proposals for trade routes. If he performed well, he might even give the world the impression that there were good warriors in Apapkiwan with which perhaps raiders could be deterred, maybe even raiding armys from other rival settlements.
After all that explanation, that dwarf was introduced to Omo as an adventurous warrior, who was normally dedicated to looking for work contracts to kill undesirable creatures and that now he was going to accompany Omo all the way through several months of travel during which he would also dedicate himself to training the otter intensely.

Omo had no idea what he was getting himself into, so he agreed, "a few fights didn't sound too bad if that would help the town that much". He dedicated two last days to his mate and set out on a six-month journey to Inethotil ("The Jade City").
Omo was 3 years old at the time (most humanoid animal races reach sexual maturity when they reach their first year of life).
