krystal, randorn, and sabre (dinosaur planet and etc) created by captainjingo

Dinosaur Planet concept

Something I did for fun, also because I discovered what the gradient map does.

Krystal's doing the Tron poster pose while Sabre is doing his best Frank Frazetta's Princess of Mars impression. Randorn is the only original pose here and you'll know because I drew his forearm wrong.

Also he wears a cape because that was his initial look in the very early stages of the game.

We have a rather early build of Dinosaur Planet from around the time it was decided to tie the story in to Star Fox. The short version is, if Dinosaur Planet had stayed on the N64, it would have been far better than it ended up being in every way except the graphics.

The long version is, the added Star Fox elements (in and of themselves) do not detract from the original story, but thanks to the move to the Gamecube, combined with a tight deadline, the game's story was essentially cut down to half, and somewhere along the line Nintendo decided - quite unnecessarily - to cut out all the darker parts of the story, too (like Generals Scales murdering the Cloudrunner Queen). What we got was basically a gutted decimation of what was originally meant for release.

A big shame for what could've been Rareware's Ocarina of Time.
