MemberI tried to be strong once when I got flu. It got real bad after that which made me bedridden for a week and a half.
Tijuana Bob
MemberNo time to be sick cuz they have work.
Getting a bit real here, are we?
TheMachinist
MemberThe pain of wanting to work but being unable to, and feeling guilty about it. Had an exercise injury which left me so crippled that I couldn't walk. I still felt bad the entire week I had to take sick leave from work, despite not even being able to touch the ground with my heels. Leaving work behind just feels bad, and you spend a ton of time just thinking about how things are working out without you there
DreitTheDragon
MemberPlot twist, body gets sick when you are overwhelmed by work
JustHereForTheCubs
MemberA moment that comes to mind is from Family Guy. Peter was a woman in an office who "cannot get sick right now" and had to be dragged away from her desk.

Membereh ...my people know how to function....i won't abuse sick days...but i learned. ot to stress over having to miss work.... in my experience it's the people that Love to micro manage, drag their feet and be held by the hand that panic and take advantage of the "chaos" in the end you see the hard workers...and the eh...ill take my time or screw around until someone explains the process...and ill leave plenty of work for the 2 or 3rd shift

MemberI have not, and will never feel bad at taking time to take care of myself over work. What's the point in thinking that you have less of a right to care for yourself than you do an obligation to labor for (most likely) someone else? And look at it this way: if you don't take care of yourself, how are you even giving your 100% best while you struggle with all your issues?
Rest yourself, recover, make sure you're good with yourself. THEN worry about giving that energy to someone else.

MemberWhat does 'being strong' mean when talking about being sick? Ignoring that you were sick or pretending you're not sick? ...I can't really see that as a strength.
yugijak
MemberIt is far more important work to maintain yourself than it is the job you took on.
Better a day of rest and recovery than to do a week of less effective workm

MemberNobody appreciates someone dragging their ailing tail into work. They don't want what you've got. Although they may ask you sneeze near the boss before you go home.
Clawstripe
JanitorAnd also, taking leave would mean you're also thinking of others by keeping yourself out of the way so they are less likely to be infected by you.
