No, the mainline game protagonists aren't really given much of a connection, they're basically just avatars for the player to fit themselves into. I'm not sure they even appear on-screen together. At most, official art will depict them as being friends (alongside others like Hop and Leon), but given that they're kids, they wouldn't officially be given that kind of relationship.
