I did say that on some obscure earlier post before, but popular names are Orion, Artemis or Sirius. I prefer Artemis, despite the female tone in it, because Orion would be homonymous to one of Twilight's father's names (although Crescent seems to be winning the race) and Sirius is taken by the Night Guard Commander in my head. :|

Oh, and Bloodscale, how did know my character's name was Sirius; Commander or the Lunaris Elite Guard.

I have that name at the ready because my current LARP character-project is a Night Guard priest, and in order to play him properly I needed a fleshed-out head canon for the Guard, including nature, duties, origins and whatnot. They needed a commander, and for a number of partially head-canon reasons, Sirius was the most plausible choice.

A night guard priest, oh yeah, that's something.

Lets see. My version of Sirius would be that he started out as a first-gen Alicorn (dawn of time sort of thing). Skipping the various ages and into the the 1st and 2nd Solarist-Lunarist civil wars/crusades where Sirius and his three brothers were, like pretty much every other alicorn, war murderers so to speak. This was inspired by John Joseco's alicorn horn orgasms, this basically made the war a pleasurable drug for the alicorn breed. When the 2nd war ended, the alicorn breed was excuted, only a few escaped. Ashamed, Sirius takes refuge in the Temple of Unity where he pledged to right the wrongs he has done and gave his soul to the four brothers of Unity. A couple days later, he was found and executed.

After years of reconciliation, Two Alicorn mares are born and take the thrones ruling over Equestria. The past was hidden from the new generation so Equestria could be and remain 'innocent'. Kept to his promise, Sirius was resurrected by the brother Avalon as a jet black Pegasus with luminous blue feathers and tattoos/symbols. All this as well as his various traits, magic, skills, memories and whatever else useful from his past existence. Only problem was, he was a colt again, meaning hes got years ahead of him before he is capable of completing his task.

Now Luna, at the time, was going on about no-one being out at night and Celestia being too busy to really take notice and so-on so-all. So she decides to go for a mid-night fly around. All the lights were off and everypony/horse was asleep as usual to which began to toy with Luna's emotions again, until she saw a blue light in the distance. She goes to check it out. Turns out Sirius had made one heck of a bon-fire in an environmentally protected area for some reason linked in the past.

'What the hell is going on here?!' Luna stares at the great blue fire slowly swallowing the various trees and shrubs at it's base. She turn to see Sirius, probably a couple years older than her (which doesn't seem to be much of a difference), staring up at the night sky admiring the moon and stars at his own leisure. He has no idea who Luna was at the time, he just starts talking about the night sky, completely ignoring Luna raving on about the fire and finding out who he was. She seemed to stop and just listened with to Sirius's marveling, feeling something that she had never before. A sense of appreciation, pride and purpose. I guess this somewhat won Luna over. Sirius finally stopped to see a beautiful young mare ALICORN filly, highlighted as a godly figure by the flames. Depite this site that would intimidate any young colt, he just smiled and asked 'What about you? Do you enjoy gazing at the night sky?' I guess he kept his maturity.

After an exchange of names and a friendly discussion about the night and Sirius's 'life', abandoned by his parents and such, Luna offered Sirius to live at the palace.
'What? Are you the princess or something?' said Sirius a "how the hell are you going to pull that of" tone.
'Yes' replied Luna with a smile.
Sirius felt embarrassed and apologized, scratching the back of head thinking "Shit. Certainly fucked that one up." After an awkward minute silence staring at the flames, he accepted Luna's invitation.

Erhh, I don't think I'll continue, but now Sirius has to survive living at the palace. Commando training, nor his brothers, had never prepared him for this. HA HA.
