Your hands quiver. You can barely hold the camera straight.

Sure, you didn't take this job with the... best of intentions. Maybe you lied a little bit during the 'What motivates you?' part of the interview. Not that many would admit to what you wanted. A free ticket out of the technopolis of civilization, a safe glass pod sliding you through the dense undergrowth, a camera with a long lens to catch Pokémon at their most... natural.

Click.

You'd only hoped for pictures, though. More than anatomical diagrams in textbooks. More than blurry pictures of someone's Furfrou on the internet. You wanted them artfully taken, with the focus just right - satisfying the curiosity once and for all, and...

Click.

And now her. Looking at you. Staring. Thievul are intelligent, but that smile looks sly. It's a smile that says she knows you're out here for more than 'research'. It's a smile that says you can get more than research. An eye that flicks to one side, to the swaying hips, to the wet gleam in dappled sunlight. That silent, natural promise for more...

Much, much more...

Click. Click. Picture after picture, fluttering to the ground. Not that any of them are any different - not that's she's moving. You click away, not even really registering...

But you stop eventually. You lower the camera. Your hand is already hovering over the door handle.

And... you're not an idiot. You needed to know something about these Pokémon to become a researcher for them. You know that Thievul are some of the tricksiest, traitorous, most sly creatures to slink through the undergrowth. And that smile just exudes mischief...

But...

Whatever she's planning...

Fuck it. It'll be worth it.
