This was a simple concept. The idea was to agree with the sentiment that 2020 became a dumpster fire because of the global pandemic, and that it was a minor relief when that year came to an end.
Of course, the calendars being thrown into the dumpster and the novelty glasses all read 2000 rather than 2020. You could argue that the year 2000 had its dumpster fire moments too, such as the Y2K Bug scare and certain other groups all preaching how the world would end on New Year's Day that year.
I loosely described it from the character's point of view when I commissioned this: "Thank Arceus the year's over. Let's hope the new one won't be such a mess."

MemberTBH I don't really know what cancel culture is. I heard the term before, but it made me think of people just cancelling subscriptions to crappy services.
So the context is a little lost on me.
