Well, she hasn't strangled him yet, so despite her confused look, she might actually be gettin' what he's sayin'!

Possibly? But I doubt she'd want to at this point.

    Other than maybe to apologize.

Other than that, I kind of like the idea that the soul keeps learning through these avatars.

  • I feel like Feretta's comment on the last page and Piris's flattery is leading up to things getting lewd but I hope I'm just seeing a line where there isn't one.

So this means… she could get back in touch with her late boyfriend at some point?

Would that be a huge stretch if vix was her late boyfriend? That could explain the full black body and the ability to "use the force" without a focus.

  • So this weirdo—
    post #2518273
—really was Piris all along. (OK, Piris plus all his past lives' memories... Piris+, let's say.)

Waiting to see whether Fen would void-rage and murder him (again).

Man. I wonder how that conversation went, when Lars recruited him out of digital purgatory/bardo for this.

  • I share Fen's response to Piris comment in panel 3.

Panel three reminds me of a sound I will never forget. the sound of a modem on dialup.

Noo... I thought I had buried that sound for good.. it has returned to haunt me.

14.4k porn. People today don't know what patience you needed.

Be a real shame if somebody needed to make a phone call while the load bar for your picture was loading.

But what if he still lives? 8O

I don't think so. If he did he would be crippled from both the blast and having a building collapse with him in it. But i suppose it is possible for him to have survived both, these people are built better than we are.

  • The idea that he is an amalgamation of everyone that he used to be says to me that when you die, you lose your individuality. The way he talks conveys this as well. "We don't control what happens, but this one definitely got the worst parts if me." His apology to me doesn't feel "too" genuine, since it isn't just him anymore, its everyone else he used to be.
I don't know, just something that came to mind after reading this page.

  • You know, I just had a thought. Will Piris be able to be reborn in this world or would he have to wait for the next apocalypse to happen and finish to be reborn?

Did you miss Fen repeatedly saying she never meant for that to happen? Including just a couple pages back? This entire training bit is teach her how to harness that form, but as a part of that process deal with and work out the trauma that incident caused, because she's afraid of what happened the first time?

She's spent a good chunk of her life living with the guilt of that day, and it's fucked her up pretty bad. It's not just "Piris?! FEN SMASH!" *Hulk's Out*

I know. Did you make it to the end of my comment? Two pages ago, Piris says "[Lars] and I made a deal ... Right, so I'm supposed to make you mad enough to wreck my shit." So it appears THEY thought that that was a plausible way this encounter could go. My comment is just that Piris+ was flexing and pointing off into the distance while waiting for Fen to react, like an idle animation, which seemed less weird when we didn't know he really was (in the extended sense) Piris and not just another AI training dummy.

Except Fen herself requested "curve balls", so throwing a mix of a person she loved with a person she hated wasn't premeditated. The ultimate goal of these sessions is to let her be able to use the void form under control. But it seems like multiple people (here and on Feretta's own site) think that simply seeing Piris would send her into a bloodthirsty rage, when she's said multiple times she regretted "losing her shit" when she killed him, and never wanted something like that to happen again.

Right. I don't think we disagree, really. I've actually been wondering whether this is going to turn out to be foreshadowing. Something came out of the white ball of world-eating doom that looked like Baelin, but wasn't. If the world-eater comes back, and Fen has to confront it, what kind of curveball could it throw her? That might be a little too neat, but Feretta definitely seems to be playing the long game, so who knows...
