man those funding cuts hit hard on the zpd

gonna ignore the humor there for a second and mention the Peelian principles where a walking or bike riding police force is actually much better then a more distant one capsuled away in their cars.

Said principles are based on a theory of relations whose effects have not been proven, so whether they actually are better is much debated.

It is, isn't it? I "stumbled" over those principles in the fanfic A Reason to Dance with You by a Canadian author.
In the authors notes he (I think) goes in to some details on his ideas and interpretation of those rules.
Never heard of those rules before and there isn't even an Wikipedia article in my native tongue.

Uh what? They were successfully used/applied for decades if not centuries with/to the Police in London and other places in England(/GB?) and from what I've read they work(ed) quite well.
The Bobbies in London weren't called Peelers in the past for no reason.
Please give some sources to the much debated parts.
