Simple... Elves are actually very strong, despite their thin structures. That's why link can crash into trees at super speed and jump off cliffs and not even get hurt. And this Zelda isn't just a pampered Princess... According to the game, she is a skilled fencer and wields that sword, fluidly, with one hand.

Zelda and Link are NOT elves, they're Hylians. I'm not sure elves even exist in The Legend of Zelda series.

Depending on your leniency towards non-canonical information there is an elven character by the name of Rune in the original Legend of Zelda manga who was Link's father. However it said in the same manga that he was fucking Zelda and that she was Link's mother, as well as that he owned that game's version of the White Sword and was killed by one of Ganon's demon soliders before he could pass the blade on to Link. I'm such a fucking nerd.
