I think Nintendo has alrady UNOFFICIALLY labeled one game already the 4th sequel to Mother. I hate to say it but it is undertale and Toby works for Nintendo now and his games are on the switch after.

No seriously hear out my logic here. Toby made that fan hack right? The guy loves the mother games but he was completely peed off that they won't bring 3 over so he made his own game. Now if I remember there was a forum post that he did somewhere that someone asked him a question of "does undertale take place in a reset of the mother universe after the 3rd game" and Toby said something along the lines of "yes because Gygis tried to reset the universe one more time after Lucas pulled that sword and ended the world, so the alien tried to start over and messed up and lead to undertale."

That's how I remember it because it's been awhile since I've been to that form and I don't know if it's even still up anymore. It was the rom hacking website I think that Toby posted his mother rom hack. Pardon the pun but look at all the determination he had to get that game going. And nintendo pretty much unofficially And intendo pretty much unofficially acknowledges it as the 4th mother game.
