  • No, that only happens after a couple of generations of intentional inbreeding. Hence, how we have small ankle-biting dogs.

  • I mean, at least we are not pretending that it's not going to happen with incest babies

The deformities sure, but if it comes out a goblin instead of a fox then there's something wrong.

  • What are actually the chances of having an unhealthy baby in the first generation of incest, assuming that rick's and rina's parents are NOT related?

Pretty low, actually. and lower still if they're cousins. Incest is known to happen among foxes when options are sufficiently limited. It's avoided when possible.

There's a mathematical framework for determining the percentage of matching genes, but it basically boils down to how many bad recessive genes have been inherited from either parent. If their parents are genetically immaculate there would literally be no risk outside of random mutations; conversely, a worst-case scenario would see at least half the bad alleles pairing up, before factoring in recessive traits not suppressed in the kids' own DNA.

So while the degree of relationship helps determine the risk of bad inheritance, the lynchpin is the number of bad genes in play. Charles II of Spain, the poster child for Habsburg memes, had an inbreeding coefficient equivalent to brother–sister offspring, yet his parents were uncle/niece.

Technically speaking if your baby comes out messed up because of incest, it’s because your genes were already messed up somewhere. They just met with another pair to show up instead of remaining dormant.

I mean that really depends on how many recessive genes they've got and all that.
My dad's parents were first cousins who had 7 kids together, and I've got all sorts of issues. ADHD, autism, asthma, bad eyesight, an adult tooth that never grew in, a deviated septum, hypertension, and family predispositions for depression, diabetes, and addiction.
