MemberI don't know much about medicine, but if I had a decent sized peice of whatever sticking out of me, I probably wouldn't try to pull it out unless there was a doctor near by.

Memberyeah generally you actually want to leave it in, as it's blocking a lot of the blood vessels and slowing the bleeding. It's like if you took a Ziploc bag of water and stabbed it through with a pencil: water is going to start spilling out, but if you pull the pencil out it's gonna start pouring out everywhere.

MemberSo I looked up some arm anatomy and based on the location of the shrapnel, she's looking at damage to potentially four different muscles that assist in curling and extending the fingers, as well as two muscles that help you flex your wrist up and down.
So worst case scenario her hand could end up with poor wrist movement, issues with flexing her index and middle fingers, trouble flexing any of her fingers at the second joint. If it angled poorly, it could miss the muscle helping her flex her wrist upward but instead do massive damage to the muscles that let her straighten out her fingers and move her thumb away from her palm.
