Jan 7th: Small update to the Uploading Guidelines today: We now no longer allow paintovers of AI generated content. Or in other words AI generated content that has been edited to some degree by humans.
Dec 1st: If your account has been hit in the most recent ban wave of compromised accounts please reach out to us at management[at]e621.net and we'll help you get your account back.
If you've already contacted us give us a moment to get to you, though if it takes longer than a day for us to get back to you do feel free to reach out again!
Dec 2nd: If you got got and suddenly aren't able to see any of our exquisite selection of sausage and taco posts double check that Safe Mode is disabled in your account settings (Account -> Settings -> Safe mode [right above the blacklist text box]).
We still have a Discord server, come talk to us!

MemberThis has me curious. The source for the one I uploaded nearly a year ago is the exact same size but the actual upload isn't. I uploaded via url. Does e621 resize images uploaded via url or not use their full size?
Would be helpful to know so I can ensure that I upload things at the same size as the source.

Former StaffYou uploaded the preview version of the image, that's why. You need to change the url manually, or get a script to automatically do it for you in order to get the original version of the image.

JanitorAlways look up tag history: https://e621.net/post_tag_history/index?post_id=1228971
Slyroon has habit of changing direct image source to one that's superior when they are tagging posts with BVAS. I personally don't like this, as that's not an actual source to post itself anymore, but technically either way is completely fine. Your originally provided source was differend.
If you want to ensure that you are uploading the file as it should be uploaded, use "upload from URL" and make sure that you have URL for highest quality variation what nicklo linked.
