MemberI stopped to watch TV when cartoons like that stopped to be on channels, replaced by the stupids one we have actually.

MemberHow many times have we told you to play knight with the WOODEN sword Joshua...
No I don't know where this is from, although it looks like fun.
Liquid Chameleon
MemberEpic. The choice of angle is brilliant too: not only does he have the death scene, but he manages to squeeze in the aftermath of the fight with Cluny in the background. A fitting tribute indeed.

MemberI read the first 5 Redwall novels and aside from all telling the same story they were competently written. There was a disturbing undercurrent of something like racism in them though. "All Rats/Foxes are evil and should never be trusted." "All Birds/Voles are primitive and dumb" of course this is the kind of genetic determinism in fantasy dating back at least to Tolkien, but Redwall seemed to have it more up-front. To be expected from a guy who grew up in Britain during WW2 though I guess. RIP

JanitorHe's dead, Jim. So, unfortunately, Brian Jacques' literary abilities are now even worse than that.

BlockedWell if you think about it, I'd much rather have a mouse or an otter hanging around my house than a rat or a fox. Besides, there were plenty of exceptions Veil the stoat was a Redwaller.. though he was kind of a prick.. Taggerung was... not much different... um, the Gawtrybe? they were pretty primitive.. I don't think I've got much of an argument here..

MemberSad but true. I was pissed when I found out. Why do the good ones always go first? Funny thing is, its one basically 'furry' thing my friend actually likes.

MemberAccording to Brian Jacques, it wasn't meant to be racist. He stated that they're not evil because they're rats, but they're rats because they're evil. Of course, it's easy to see it as racist anyway, but in a book series meant for children, it makes it easier to tell friend and foe apart.

MemberYeah, I couldn't help but feel the same way. Especially after reading "The Outcast of Redwall." However, I believe Jacques excelled in many other areas; like the songs, the feasts, and his descriptions of the environments.
