fchan is thread based, meaning that once things are idle for long enough, they're pushed off by newer threads. It's not meant to be a persistent collection.

Fchan basically serves as a transition point for 4channers interested in furry. That's where most traffic comes from these days, new channers hear about furries and then go looking for it...they find Fchan and then they either like it or hate it.
