Topic: Tag Implication: helmet -> armour

Implicating helmet -> armour.

Reason: helmet is armour
There is already an imlication sword -> weapon. I dont see why armour shouldnt be the same.

Also, there should be implications like:
breastplate -> armour.
legging -> armour.
arm_guard -> armour.
chainmail -> armour.

By the way, should i create different forum threads for each additional implications, or should i just list em here?

They're created automatically when you work with implications page, so I think you have no choice

They do? I always thought admins add them.

What about motorcycle helmets (post #92778, post #92520, post #91707, post #106662)? Biking helmets (post #70098)? Fireman Hats (post #31190)? Space Bubbles (post #37613)? Or Dark Helmet (post #17)?

I wouldn't consider every piece of headgear to be armor, especially if it's not being used as armor. Some cases it's used to identify a uniform fetish (post #21679). In others, it's an unused accessory so you can figure out what the character might be (post #69277 is obviously a miner).

And when it comes to leggings? Well, that's actually a type of tight fitting pants women wear, and often used to refer to stockings. A glance at the tag (http://e621.net/post?tags=leggings&commit=Search ) pretty much confirms that.

...Which are all armour by its nature, cause they are used to protect its wearer from harmful environment (in this case, an angry orc with an axe is considered a harmful environment)

Wikipediasaid:
Armour or armor (see spelling differences) is protective covering used to prevent damage from being inflicted to an object, individual or a vehicle through use of direct contact weapons or projectiles, usually during combat, or from damage caused by a potentially dangerous environment or action (e.g., cycling, sites of construction works)

About leggings, i aggree.

to my knowledge, whne you use the interface, an item is suposed to be queued up for admins to approve of, but no item is currently being queued up.

as for motorcycle, etc helmets, I disagree.. while technically correct, if I'm wanting to cater to my knight in shining armor fetish, I don't want to see a fireman in a hat, or an astronaught. Even though, yes, technically, it is armor.

We might be 'better' to create a 'headgear' tag, which will be implicated by all types of helmets, hats, and leave armor for bits of chainmail an d other things you might use to defend yourself agaisnt orcish attack.

Wouldnt it be smarter to use a tag Knight then the tag Armour?
Flak vest is armour. Power Armour from WH40K or Fallout is armour. And they are as far from the knight in shining armour as any fireman.
+ when considering such things, the actual meaning must have preference over users perception of the object.

Personally I'd use the armor tag for metal armor or bulletproof vests, but not something like fireman helmets or space suits (unless they're some sort of sci-fi combat thing).

Thats what i am talking about. Its actual fact VS human perception.
We are all taught to think that armour is something that protects us in battle (like plate armour). But the fact is, everything that protects the user from physical harm (trauma), and is worn is a sort of armour.
The question is: do we derive the implication from factual information, or from the majority's opinion on the subject?

By that logic we should label a biker's leathers as "armour" as well as condoms. ;)
Personally, I think that armour should refer to something meant for battle. Public perception tends to define a lot of tags, which is why thousand year old succubi still get labels "loli" if they look like they're seven.

We also tag foxes as "canine" even though they're not canines, they're canids. But we do it anyway because it's simpler and in this case better for the site.

Canidae is a family, Caninae is a subfamily. There is no contradiction to calling some of the foxes canine because there are both a canide and a canine

Condoms do not protect from physical trauma. And bikers leathers are more clothes then armour. They wont be sold in a clothes shop otherwise lol:)
2nd. Dont confuse actual tagging with implications.

The general rule is.. tage what you see.

also, we are a porn site. *I*, at least have always approached tagging with the idea of, tag according to what people would want to see. I wouldn't tag every image with a slightly open mouth with a gaping maw tag... So... I say, the idea of to go off of perceptions, not fact.

The chain mail, and the flak jacket are both armor, but a fireman's helmet wouldn't ever be what someone seeks (I think) when searching 'armor'... for that, they'll search uniform, or foreman, or something.

Technically they protect from physical trauma for the woman, as well as emotional and monetary trauma for everyone involved.

Ghosti said:

A. They protect from physical trauma.
B. I can buy a bike helmet from some clothing stores, as well as knee guards (both of which protect from physical trauma).

Yet they're planning on implicating 'loli' with 'underage' or 'young', so all of those thousand year old succubi would be labeled as such.

The way I see it? Yeah, that bit about 'protect in battle'.

Armor is not something which protects you -- that'd just be 'protective gear', in general -- armor is something which protects you from attack. As such, a construction hat is not normally armor, as it is meant to protect you from the environment (not from people / animals / whatever), whereas a ballistic vest or steel breastplate is.

'Helmet', by contrast, merely implies some form of protective headgear -- it includes both things which would be armor, as well as things which wouldn't.
