Topic: What to do with clean herms

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

We've got an edit war going on over at post #68939 about whether it should be tagged as female because shi looks it, or herm because that's what Artica is.

Or maybe forget both and just go with ambiguous_gender.

Can we get a ruling on what to do in these cases?

DO: Tag images/fix tags yourself if possible, instead of posting 'this tag is wrong'. If you know it's wrong, fix it. However, remember the cardinal rule here too - post what you SEE in the image, not things that have to be described from an external source. (Examples of this - if a character looks 10 but artist says it's 700 years old, keep cub tag. If character looks exactly like a unicorn but artist says its actually a turtle, you should probably tag it as a unicorn.)

GO GO GADGET "CONVENIENTLY PLACED PENIS-HIDING KNEE!"

EDIT: Wait a second, is that male dragon wearing a skirt?

Tag it female, and ambiguous_gender, I guess. "Trap" images like this are why we can't have nice things.

But this image IS a nice thing.

No

Okay, what about post #69496 where it's a somewhat accurate representation of a female hyena?

That's what I did.

Then someone went and edited it to herm and dickgirl instead.

I'd think it would be a pseudopenis if it weren't for the balls.

Whoops. You're right. I didn't notice that. Dickgirl is the right tag.

Just use common sense people. That's all I ask. There will always be exceptions to every rule, especially given that furry artists love to, by and large, be their own unique special snowflakes as much as humanly possible which leads to a lot of ridiculous situations like this whole mess. If it looks like a tag is being used in good faith, I allow a certain amount of wiggle room. We're not robots.

Ideally, tag what you see, but in some cases, like this whole hyena thing, what you see can be pretty vague, so just try your best and be as complete as you can and that's usually fine, so try not to stress about it too much if the tags on an image are reasonable.

I was just looking for an opinion from someone with authority because without it that picture's going to go back and forth between dickgirl and female.
