Topic: E621 Tablet Support

Posted under General

Anybody know what the status of Tablet support is? Tested with the following:

HP Touchpad
Samsung Galaxy Tab
Apple Ipad

Worked fine on the first two, displaying just like a computer on the HP and Samsung, but got AIDS when attempted with the fairly new Ipad. Is this something wrong on e621's end, or is Apple just a shitty company?

Knew it was probably Apple's Shitty Engineering skills. Considering how most of them are just cheap pieces of plastic developed in Chinese Sweat Shops.

My opinion HP crushes the competition. Anyway back to the question at hand, tried everything from configuring the browser to starting it in safe mode. Each time i tried to visit this and a few other sites, the tablet itself crashed and i had no option other than to restart it.

I'm no engineer and I'm only a modestly competent technician, but in my mind, this generally happens because some software is asking the hardware to do something the hardware cannot actually do. This might happen because the hardware itself is failing or exceedingly poorly designed, OR because the software is exceedingly poorly designed.

Since Apple's design is usually pretty good, and I have no reason to believe e621 or any other website's interaction with browsers is fundamentally broken, I think you might want to do a thorough check of your hardware.

Why I say this: because I've noticed that my computer will lock up totally, sometimes forcing me to unplug it rather than just hold down the power button, when it attempts to do certain kinds of reads from the hard drive (or possibly reads from certain parts of the hard drive). Yes, I'm aware that I need a new hard drive.

Edit: so, before you go to Apple Genius or anyone else to get your iPad "repaired" - get someone you know to try loading this or other websites with their iPads or other iOS devices, so you'll know if it's a problem with the product or with your unit alone.

Works on everything except Apple, so it mustn't be Apple's fault. /derp

Doesn't work on a single iPad out of a million iPads. iPads are really good for web browsing, and not much else. Logical conclusion; it's more likely that the iPad has damage.

(Cause e621 works fine on mine)

I used the Apple iPad just the other day to access the site. e621 ran pretty fast and worked just fine. I cant really recall any problems with it.

I'll tell you what, buy me an ipad 2 to test on and I'll guarantee it works.

As for android based systems they are supported.

As for Apple support, we fully support the Safari browser as much as we support chrome.
