when did you guys come to power and why?

they came into power in the beginning of time...because they're just that epic.

i know about mellis, and the others, but im talking about when did skeeter, riversyde, snowwolf, tony, kald, celestia, and aurali step in?

Varka bought the site, and gave power to Char, char relegated to skeeter, riverside, tony, and Aurali. Snow, Kald, and I are the newest mods, and came to be about two months ago for extensive work on the site, as well as large amounts of uploads, flagging, tag work, moderation, and other acts of upstanding citizenship.

I started as a chat mod back the last few months of e621, varka bought it, and everyone said I was awesome and gave me powers.. I like helping <3

Came to power in September 2010 because Varka acquired the site from Arcturus, and decided to have me as the lead administrator since I had worked with him for over a year prior on agnph.com.

I've always been willing to help. To devote my time into improving this site which I like very much. Because, to me, it never really was about the porn. I've always enjoyed looking at and creating art. About half of a year ago, deadjackal, the guy who mainly went through and approved the posts decided he wasn't able to do it by himself any more since he transferred jobs. (which I don't blame him. It is a lot of work being the only one to look through each post every day for .) He and Char, along with all the other mods, were looking for more mods to help out. Now, they have been asking and mentioning needing more mods for quite some time prior, and every time I never asked, but offered my time and services. Finally since deadjackal wasn't able to do it primarily by himself anymore, he mentioned in the irc that they could use more mods, and I, same as always, offered to help. I was later contacted, asked a couple questions, and made a mod.

I don't know why, but I've always been told that I have a pretty awesome personality. Whether that's part of why they liked me enough, I'll never know.
Also, to add on about when they would mention they needed more mods while in the sites irc, quite a few people, who were 'regulars' to the irc channel, always vouched for me. Saying things like "If anyone should be made mod, it's skeeter." and other stuff of the sort.

I commented, I posted, I tagged, I let people know when I found horrible commenters (fun fact~ I actually was the one who found Barbados~ Making the kurgan analogy so much stronger ;) ) I spoke up on the forums... I'm not sure what I did to make me stand out past that, but one day... :D

It's a kind of magic! Don't lose your head.

While I'm not exactly an Admin or Mod, I'd like to believe I'm part of the staff~ And like Celestia, I got my status by being helpful around the site. Last I checked, I had made the most number of Wikipedia Articles among all users in no more than one month's time. Along with that, I tag and upload, and I've helped other users when they had questions about the site.

I also like to goof off and roleplay in the comments :P It's always funny stuff, I promise!

I'm definitely a meta-hipster. I realized it the other day when I got suddenly pissed at how hipsters are geeky ironically. My thought process was akin to:

"Man. Fuck all these hipsters, pretending they like video games and nerdy shit to be ironic. I was a nerd before it was---well fuck."
