I run various 3d modelling programs and plugins/game SDKs that work fine with 4gb of RAM. Modern games work fine, too, even on moderately high resolution. Can't afford much else as a student, but it works fine. Although, I do use Windows 7 (that I got for ~40 dollars with my student discount).

My desktop isn't really much to speak of though. Normal background (non-furry because I have roomates and I'm not autistic enough to push my fetish on them like it's a lifestyle) and no fancy apps.

One doesnt need furry pics for sexy backgrounds, look at the ones i posted. 4 gb aint so bad. But 10 dollara foe seven is a ripoff i got it free with student discount

also, more seriously.... it's your fucking wallpaper. YOUR wallpaper on YOUR computer. That's not pushing it on them. If you leave the damn thing on all the time, set a screen saver if it bothers them or you. When you start wall papering your REAL walls with printed out furporn, and walking around in a fursuit with a bottle of anal lube in one hand and a modified meeko plushie in the other, THEN, and only THEN are you pushing it on them.

Why? It's been out of date for 3 years now... Vista's been replaced by something 5 times as good as BOTH of them and there are free replacements that will run on basically shit AND still run your favorite XP games.

If you have 7 Pro/Enterprise/Ultimate you can try installing the game in XP with XP Mode, which is a licensed copy of XP Pro running in a virtual machine, but since it's a VM, performance will suffer.

Yeah, Virtual PC is a horrible vm system though.. I run an old copy of virtual box (before Oracle ate it) to run XP mode. and it runs like a dream <3

Slightly more on topic, I got a new one for my laptop. It is a BITCH to find wallpapers in 1920x1080.

That's why I find an image around the same size and either crop or resize it till I get it to fit the way I want it.
