Aliasing tails → invalid_tag
Link to alias

Reason:

Too vague and if they are referring to the tails from Sonic, we tag it as miles_prower

I use 'tails' tag when there are tails in the image. Wolf tail, fox tail, pony tail. Maybe have it tail instead of tails, but not invalidate it.

It's too vague. Practically every image on this site has at least a tail in it

I was going to suggest aliasing to multiple_tails, but it doesn't seem to be the general use.

Tail is already invalidated.

Yep, I certainly agree that it's an invalid tag.
But I think it should be cleaned up first. I've been slowly working on it myself for a couple of months, and was planning to suggest this implication after it's been sorted out.

I've just been unsure about how to clean it. Are tags such as cat_tail, fox_tail and horse_tail considered to be valid tags?

Say that to the "mammal" tag.

Tail is invalidated because it is a singular generic and is meant to be replaced with the species specific, such as cat_tail or fox_tail.

Tails technically should be aliased as https://e621.net/wiki/show?title=multiple_tails but there's the catch of Miles "Tails" Prower, which prevents an easy aliasing, and vice versa for aliasing to Miles_Prower. Clean to multiple_tails and list the individual tail types, or to Miles_Prower, then it should be invalidated, is how best to handle it, I think.

I've already sorted out Miles Prower and most of multi_tails from there, but there's still over three hundred images left. Tails is used a lot for images where there's multiple tailed characters, instead of actual multi-tails. So I think we have to alias it to invalid_tag.

I just was wondering what we should do about those remaining ones. I suppose we could wipe them, but the other option is to replace those with less vague tags. Such as horse_tail and cat_tail.

Cases where there are multiple characters with tails gets tagged with the individual tails, so if there's a cat, a dog, and a fox, it should get cat_tail, fox_tail and dog_tail.

I've been wary about tagging those, simply because they're so underused and currently missing from 99% of images. And some of the current ones seem problematic.

But if nobody objects to it, I'll start sorting out what's left under the tails tag...

I think that the cat_tail and similar tags are meant to be used the same way as the cat_ears tag. Anthros don't need them, if it's a cat, it should have cat ears and tail. Nekomimi and such should be the only ones to get the cat_tail, wolf_tail, etc. tags.

Excellent point.
Various animal_ears tags (cat_ears, rabbit_ears, etc.) are only tagged if they don't match the base species. It should be the same for the animal_tail tag group.

In general, it probably would be better to use descriptive tags such as thick_tail, long_tail, multi-colored_tail, spiked_tail, flaming_tail, tail_fin, etc. Rather than tagging everything as <species>_tail.
