We go by the standard of Ye Goode Olde Englishe. Or, for ye plebes, American English. So anything that means the same thing in another language gets aliased to the English word. Names are a more personal thing and should be tagged with whatever name that they themselves use most- If it's a case of a name not being pronouncable in a normal language (like some made up/alien languages), but there's a 'normal' nickname, generally that nickname is the one we tag, to my knowledge.

English tags are preferred, unless you requesst a translation. If you do, add the tags translation_request and japanese_text (for example, if the text is in japanese. See this list for most of the *_text tags)
