Topic: Question about the tag anthro

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I thought I knew when to add the tag anthro to a picture based from reading the wiki, but I keep seeing people removing them such as this.

Was I correct in adding the anthro tag to said image or am i missing something?

For the most part, that image would not need the anthro tag as it is already assumed it would be anthro. We mostly use the anthro tag for images where there is a feral creature interacting with an anthro creature and when something has been turned anthro when it normally is drawn as being feral (example would be pokemon and my little pony) then we use the anthrofied and anthro tag in most instances. The wiki is probably out of date and needs some reworking but I hope my explanation here offered some insight on when to properly use the tag

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them right here or send me a message directly for one on one help

There used to be a rule for that tag (see previous version of wiki page here) to only apply it if feral characters / animals are also present on the image.

Correct me if Im wrong, but I thought this was discussed not too long ago and I thought the wiki def. Was changed to state that the tag applies to any anthro character present on a picture, also the actual wiki def. Is not that old, it's last update was on december 2013 by Gilda.

Edit: seems all happened here

And tbh I agree with the current definition.

After further investigating through the OP picture tag history it seems to be one person removing anthro tags from pictures. Should this be happening or is it a simple mistake, and they should be changed back?

Well I'm still not convinced to tag it on everything as that is like 90% of the site

The change was open for discussion for months, got backing from at least two admins (and couple of ex-admins), and nobody objected at the time.

I'm not in favor of changing it back to the old definition. As Char said, applying anthro to the images that have anthros makes perfect sense to me.

And the less exceptions there are to TWYS, the better.

Then we have a lot of tags to start adding

I'm in for tagging it when the character isn't normally anthro or just alias it to anthrofied.

Yep, but that's nothing new. I've been working on it for the past month.
I think anthro is already more widely tagged than the character count tags (duo, group), etc.

And yeah, implicating or aliasing anthrofied to anthro would certainly help.

Implication please, as anthrofied is certainly different from anthro.

This was debated and overturned to apply now to any anthro character as it was incorrect to only tag anthros where non-anthros were present, but not when only anthros were in an image.
