Topic: The "secret" Tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

So out of curiosity I searched secret to see if e6 was hiding any juicy easter eggs. The answer is no, it wasn't. But while I was searching I noticed something strange.

The "secret" tag is actually a character tag, but there are many images with many different characters tagged with it that I can't tell who Secret is supposed to be. They should have used "secret_(character)". After that mystery is resolved, the next question is do we even have any need for the secret tag? There is hardly anything secretive about any of the images with the tag. If we chose to keep it, then what in an image would qualify as a "secret"?

Discuss.

I remember that character; he was a white and red fox with a stomach tattoo.

Should probably be secret_(character) but if secret is not in use, then why complicate things with a suffix in parentheses?

As for using the tag itself, I really don't think we have, or will get any subject matter needing it. If someone is hiding a secret, that would be really difficult to tag, with or without TWYS. If the sign reads secret, maybe tag confidential instead? Maybe tag top_secret? How would one reliably tag secret on an image anyway? (excluding if it is written)

Alright then, I guess the best solution is to start cleaning. The secret character tag should only be kept where the character is present and then every other image should have the tag changed to top_secret where it is applicable and dropped entirely where it's not. Maybe I'll get to it sometime tomorrow when I'm not pounded by college work. For now I need my sleep. If someone wants to beat me to the punch, go right on ahead though. :)

...eh? secret_(character) is the character tag. secret is the tag for anything to do with secrets. top_secret is the spy movie cliche.

I'm fine either way, both make sense and it would probably be easier o start cleaning up the tags
