Topic: Oswald_Cobblepot -> The_Penguin

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Oswald Cobblepot is the actual name of the character of The Penguin from Batman. I initially looked him up with that name over The Penguin because I didn’t want e6 to be confused over the actual penguin species tag. Whether it becomes the actual new name for the tag or it leads into The Penguin. Either works.

I don't see any reason not to. there's no main/alter ego separation (like there is with a lot of other comic book characters' names), The Penguin is effectively just a nickname.

that being said, should we move the_penguin to have a *_(dc) suffix?

To be fair, there is one time The Penguin's real name was Oswalda Cobblepot instead.

That being said, I don't think there was ever a main/alter ego tag merger either probably due to the reason you mentioned.
In that case, do cosplay or simply the unworn costume itself warrant a separate character tag? It's hard to tell.

Yeah, the_<animal> is too ambiguous for my tastes and should be suffixed, considering the unlikely but possible chance that someone else might share the same nickname.

Is it possible for another character to take on the mantle of The Penguin in the future? Or for the character to take on a different mantle in the future? Comic book superheroes and supervillains aren't strangers to being "refreshed" like this, for a new take on the character.

Don't see why we can't also add Oswalda. Having both roads lead to "The Penguin." Both come off as the same character but just gender swapped.

That much I am down for at least. Helps prevent confusion.
