I'm not very well read on the subject of Identity on this website. All I know is that identity tags are locked, but due to how often 'herm' is used when the subject matter clearly aren't, I think it warrants some action to rectify this. The definition of herm is very simple, a person/ character with both vagina and penis being visual. It's typically the only wrong tag in a post, and is easy to rectify if allowed to. I think the tag herm should be unlocked for the sake of quick and easy tag removal from places it clearly doesn't belong.

Tags are never locked from being used in its entirety and you should be able to freely use them wherever appropriate.
If you see a post with locked tag, it means people have been misusing it so much that an admin had to step in and put a stop to it.
In which case, the locked tag only applies to that one post and may only be lifted by another admin.
tags are only locked on certain posts in certain situations, if it's placed incorrectly on a post, you should be able to remove it without much problem. make sure you're also removing implying tags; if you just try to remove herm but a tag like herm/male, muscular_herm, etc. remains, the tag won't be removed and you'll get a notification box.
if a tag is locked it'll show up in the greyed-out "Locked tags" box in the edit form.
I think you're confused. There are two possibilities. You're either talking about the wiki being locked or a tag being locked on a specific post.
[ link to wiki ] - this wiki is locked, meaning nobody can edit the description of what the tag is used for. Users are still free to add or remove the tag from posts.
Sometimes posts have locked tags to resolve disputes over tagging. If you know a post has a locked tag and you believe this was done in error, you can press the "report" button on the post to report it.

Apologies I was confused. Am not anymore. I saw the wiki page and just assumed that the tag itself was locked.
