Topic: Politics tag

The description for the politics tag says 'Just because a post is political in nature does not negate the "no politics in the comment section" rule.'. However, I looked at the rules page, and I can't find anything to do with politics there—I used Firefox's "Find in page" functionality to search for "politic" ("politic" rather than "politics" to also catch "political", "politically", etc), and there are no matches for that on the rules page. Have the rules been changed since that current version of that tag's description was created?

Which of the following are political statements:
My pronouns are he/him.
I like all music but rap.
I adopted Patriot from the county shelter.
A new vegan restaurant opened.
My son is gay.

You can argue for or against any of them being political because all of them touch on concepts that, culturally, have political baggage. For that reason it's really difficult to outright ban political discussion and enforce it. It's too broad.

But, lbr, you are probably not going to have a productive in-depth political conversation here. So in-depth discussions are discouraged and ugly debates will get you records.

Yes, there was once a rule specifically called Major Religions, Religious Figures, Political Parties, or Political Figures that prohibited any discussions regarding major political figures and parties.
Nowadays, the rules have been somewhat loosened where political discussions are lightly tolerated as long as it does not violate any other rules, namely the Disruptive Behavior and the National, Racial, or Ethnic Hatred rules.

So, I can talk about the way that politicians are playing on people's emotions to ban tools that are essential to the security of a free state in the great US of A, without my comment getting removed?

Great!

You won't immediately get into trouble for making such comments in moderation.
You will get into trouble if you continue to stoke it to the point it could be interpreted as you trying to bait for an argument about how bad <insert politician/party> is for the country.

At the end of the day, this is still ultimately a furry art website and not 4chan, so your priorities should not be on politics alone.

you'll probably get in trouble if you're just spreading lies, as well. since doing such would likely be considered trolling and/or disruptive behavior.

so, they ought to at least make sure their complaints are based on reality before saying anything.

But sir/madam/other, everything's politics! Yeah, this tag should be considered worse than useless. Now, political humor might be a different thing, but still is in the eye of the beholder. Some people don't like getting made fun of and don't think it's funny, which is totally shocking, right? Political parody doesn't always imply humor, but it's kind of implied to be a parody if a post contains a politician on here? Actually serious considerations, not joking. I mean, this is a parody site, foremost. It's not just "rule 34" porn.

Imagine being this artist. <- Now was trying to be funny. We had to make that note but luckily, it seems Donald Trump tag is being used properly instead of Trump. Not sure how often/if it gets cleanup.

In my opinion, there is a very distinct difference between politics and being political.

I've seen art of the donkey and elephant from their respective parties being turned into furries. Technically, politics; but I wouldn't say it's political.

Now, if you have a post talking about some conspiracy with one party or the other talking about people needing more/less support, so on? That's political.
