Topic: What does the "candid" tag mean?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I just found the candid tag, which has no wiki description. I can't tell what it's supposed to mean; the tagged posts are mostly just pinups or characters in intimate situations. Like most of the subjective adjective tags, this seems like something that should be invalidated or aliased away.

I'd guess most people who use the tag are using the word in the sense of "candid photo" - where the subject of the picture is not aware they are a subject. The opposite of a pose or looking at viewer image, to put it another way.

I don't find the candid tag useful, and wouldn't mind if it was removed. Not sure what we would alias it to, if anything, since "unposed" is such a broad concept.

There is the oblivious tag. unaware and clueless has been aliased to it. Maybe that?
As far as the current state of the candid tag though, a lot of is flat out not applicable/questionably applicable, should really be another tag or I would assume TWYK. So maybe that'd need to be cleaned up first.

Take these for instance

post #5563002 flat out not applicable. It's just two people having sex.
post #5560647 This is also tagged as parody so I would assume this is from a scene from demon slayer
post #5293613 This is more about embarrassment or exhibitionism than "candidness." Except maybe that green guy in the background.

Updated

To explain the 'meh'- It's a term that does have valid use in art. Candid sketches are a thing, usually related to gesture drawing. It can be hard to get a pure 'twys' definition, and unfortunately this tag has been abused past the point of being salvagable.

I feel like "candid" is kinda way too much the default to be a valid tag. since in most works on here the "camera" isn't even diegetic, let alone somthing that the characters are, like, aware of or appealing towards.

I think just having tags for situations that are more distinct within what would be considered "candid" and for situations where the image definitely isn't candid makes more sense.

Yeah, that's why I'm not really opposed to it being aliased here. It's an established art term, but clearly not one that translates well to e6's tag system. I don't think it's exactly the 'default' lens- with candid drawings there's normally an element of life-drawing. Going to a cafe and drawing other guests from life and 'furrifying' them would be an example. There's also some 'vibes' to the type of poses/expressions that are hard to describe for twys. The closest I could find to it in the tag was this:
