i think there should be an option for uploaders to manually delete posts if they break the rules rather than having to wait for a mod to take it down

at least it would save time so i don't have to stare at the post i uploaded without knowing the artist who made it had a full DNP

Then users could also delete their posts for arbitrary, shit reasons.

Maybe it'd be reasonable to have like 10 minutes to remove a post after uploading prior to approval.

Any form of non-staff deletion could be abused to prevent future reuploads

The are multiple bits that say to check the avoid posting before uploading
If you do upload dnp content just flag it

No, it won't. If you are concerned about posting potential DNP content, then you should have been paying attention whose art you are reposting.

The reason why we don't allow users to delete their own uploads without mod approval is because abusive users can simply nuke their entire post collection if they feel like throwing a fit, even though they don't "own" the artworks they repost (in the case they aren't the artist).
In effect, the deleted content cannot be reposted again due to the "no reuploading deleted content" rule.

If you mandate for mod approval before deletion requests are processed, then it will be no different than if you had simply flagged the post in the first place.

We used to have a "I am the original uploader and I uploaded this by mistake" flag that allowed users to delete any of their uploads within 48 hours of them posting (see topic #43897).
However, it was removed because any genuine mistakes are already covered by existing flags (e.g., inferior post, artist is DNP) and we would want to avoid any abusive uses like I have mentioned above since the uploader should not have control over artwork that they did not make.
