The tag alias #79160 head_inflation -> head_expansion has been rejected.
Reason: both of the tags are about someone’s head that’s getting bigger but “expansion” is broader than “inflation”
EDIT: The tag alias head_inflation -> head_expansion (forum #463848) has been rejected by @whatismyname1234.

Expansion and inflation are two different things that should not be confused with one another, see topic #54682 & topic #17436.

That alias was done over 10 years ago, with this thread being the oldest one mentioning the alias.
The alias also does not have a forum attached to it, meaning that it was very likely done without any prior discussion.
In addition, there were also two subsequent threads, topic #13684 & topic #18407, that spoke against the alias but nothing came of it and the discussion was forgotten to time.
So, to answer your question, it was definitely an "exception" to the rule back then but it should be reversed now in order to keep with today's consensus.
