One of the problems with shoving knots into orifices is that said orifice could hide the knot from view; e.g., knot_bulge.
The same reason as why we don't tag penis on penis_in_mouth, penis_in_ass, etc.

I wouldn't be opposed, however, if they all simply implied knot.

This would be true of knot_in_mouth and knot_in_ass, at least. But knot_in_sheath used to imply knot, and I feel that situation is closer to erection_under_clothing. I don't know why that implication was removed, since unlike the former two, you have to be able to see the knot outline in the sheath to be able to tag it, not simply see a canine penis tip poking out of the sheath and assume the knot is inside (since the knot may not be formed, and typically isn't if it's not fully erect and about to orgasm).

Well, the tags are clearly not meant for knotted dildos (like, the knot of knotted dildo in a sheath?), but i didn't think about knotted tentacles, probably because that is a rare thing to exist.

Still ignoring the existence of knotted tentacles, if something is tagged, for example, knot in ass, doesn't that imply that there is enough evidence that there is a knot inside that ass and therefore that penis inside that ass has a knot, therefore knotted penis applies? Because otherwise knot in ass wouldn't be valid anyway.

Knot being allowed for things like tentacles and dildos has caused more problems than solved, perhaps one solution could be move those things to some kind of 'non-penile knot' tag or something.

That's because we expanded the definition of knot on topic #44531 to include everything knot related (pun). That means knotted_penis, knotted_dildo, knotted_tentacles, and such.
The wikis for most knot_* tags haven't been edited yet to explicitly mention this expansion of knots.

If you mean "knot" as in the current definition of knot, then yes.
If you mean "knot" as in knotted_penis, then no.

For knotted_penis to apply, you'd need to visually see part of said penis.

AFAIK, if said penis is completely obscured by clothing (i.e., penis_outline & knot_outline) or by the penetrated character (i.e., abdominal_bulge & knot_bulge), you do not tag it as a penis but rather as a genital_outline or bulge.
If any part of the knot/penis is visible to the naked eye (e.g., knot_root, internal), then you can tag it as knotted_penis.

Problem where? You are supposed to use knotted_penis for when you see that penis.

I think that's a distinct enough scenario from a knotted penis in its own sheath with a visible knot outline/bulge, and shouldn't be kept under the same tag as another character or dildo knotting their sheath.
