Okay, honest opinion.

The new ID Check is out and I have to draw my Fursona?? I'm not a good artist, especially on phone, I usually pay Artists.

So does that mean I'm not gonna be able to verify if I can't draw? Also, the phone version seems to be bugged and I can't draw lines, only some short dots.

What is your opinion on this?

My opinion on that is horrible, because I am not an artist and I am not good at drawing things either.

And I review this obligation to draw my fursona to have verification to enter the page was a total torture for me (I drew it on my phone and you're right, it has so many flaws that it seems like an almost impossible mission in my opinion)

I don't know who was the genius who had this terrible idea.

Where's this April Fools joke? It finally appeared for me. Drawing a Houndour is impossible with those colors, my lack of art skills, and the fact I apparently don't actually know the details of what a Houndour looks like from memory.

the maximum size for cookies is like 4kb, storing it could definitely be done in local storage but that's an insane amount of effort for little payoff

Went to my number 1 source of scaly dick pics, drew a scaly dick myself, had a giggle.
Just wonder why I had to do it on march 31st. Don't say time zones. Your browser knows your time zone.

I would just suggest having like a 1 minute time so a skip button could appear for guys who really aren't into the joke.

ik the verifciation says it'll only be used for verification reasons only but it'd be really fun if we can see everyone's drawn doodles at some point i tihnk that'd be silly

It got me, and I drew the most awful version of Rezz I've ever attempted. Thanks to OP for that stressful ordeal. I genuinely thought I had to draw my fursona in MS PAIN't and upload to share as my pfp. File size is so small, I hope it's allowable to utilize it as a pfp even if only for the duration of the event. Cheers for the good laugh and equal embarrassment haha!

Browse e621 while on incognito mode. Restart the session if you are already on incognito mode.
Otherwise, purge your cookies for the site.

I like how "FurID" is โ„ข and bolded to give a sense of authority and authenticity. It definitely gave me a mini heart attack. However, if you take a step back and think about it.

It's so stupid! Are their people hired and trained to verify fursonas? Would they get counseling from the ensuring PTSD that'll come from viewing the things that this community creates; And it's trademarkโ„ข too! Such a good laugh.

It's a clever parody and satire on the verification bill that could affect this site. Funny enough, it's ironically the "best" case scenario if such a bill passes. Sure forgery could easy be committed by tracing but at least there be anonymity(?), as your ID information wouldn't be sent to God knows where.

also, we were given no actual warning about it, so i figured it couldn't be serious.

i'm not an artist, either... so i just wrote "i can't draw" and submitted that.

my fursona is a lack of talent.

i literally just did a stick man with a tail and a snout (and as a form of protest. i don't know nor do i care to learn how to draw a kobold when i could just write what he looks like) , as i don't draw and am better at writing than drawing. if this is real then I'm not laughing.

Edit: it just asked me again and I drew a stick man with the middle finger and "f furid"

This is why when you do april fools code you implement checks into prod

something like this (this part is not real code and is just to show one logical way to do it)

In a bash script I made ages ago that used this idea I literally had this snippet (this part is real code)

This code will never false trigger on non-april first (checks if user's date is actually April first) and is relatively in-obtrusive and completely honest

Here's the thing, is *IS NOT* yet April first, April fools pranks are on April first not March 31st, and while I get wanting to have some fun, This has jumped the gun too much, also given the current situation around verification in America (where e621's servers are located) could we at least not do a verification prank and do something more interesting, funny, or creative?

You can look at the javascript bundle in your client, and watch the network requests, it isn't saved anywhere
I can speak from personal experience (not for e621, but similar) that a typical upstream to prod deployment involves merging the upstream changes into a local prod repository, which to avoid merge conflicts during deployment is kept as close as possible to the upstream
Even a minor change in one file can cause a merge conflict if the upstream also changes that file

Not an artist and I do hope this is just an April Fools joke, as in I have three true furry fursonas and only one I truly connect with, the other two are more characters for planed stories for the fandom, and I know one of them is going to get a lot of hate from the fandom it's made for.

Lacking a "proper" fursona, I was originally conflicted on how to proceed...then I remembered what day it was, and just crudely stamped out the word "rawr".

I think it is part of the censorship law thing. so By having that up e621 is legally within the Law of the dumb censorship rule and Their is Nothing the Law can actual do now. IE try to shut the site down.
