That's the neat thing about pranks, the person being pranked doesn't have to find it funny. As long as a single person found it amusing, the prankster accomplished their mission

uhh... I'm pretty sure what you're describing is called "bullying".

I was really confused at first and a bit p-ed off, but I did just wake up from a nap and at the moment it is almost 9:30pm for me, so I did not even realize that it would be an april fools prank. Well done you got me, I usually dont get got, but I just woke up so it barely even counts anyways.

Not funny. Not even in the slightest. I live in a state that’s been affected by the restrictions of other adult sites, and seeing the ID check when opening the website was a scare I did not need to see. I get it, humor is subjective, the people who decided on this idea probably thought it was funny, but doing something like this when there’s a real chance and fear that this site will be affected by these restrictions is not a good look.

'Pranks should be surprising' is not a good excuse for doing something that preys on people's worries.
A good prank is something everyone affected can laugh at, or else it's mean-spirited.

And scaring people with a 'You must ID yourself' prank when there's currently a bill aiming to do just that is nothing but mean-spirited.

counterpoint, being mean sucks.

we're all already worried about the world being ruined by forced identification and other freedoms being eroded. I don't think poking fun at those legitimate fears is really a fun time.

It is meant to satirize a more serious topic, you're not being personally attacked, don't make it seem like it is a bigger deal that it really is.

I am going to put an end to this, since y'all seem to be going in circles.
If you are looking to find things to get offended about, you'll find them.

The FurID "feature" was meant to bring awareness to the very real threat of governments forcing websites to implement real-life ID verification.
... and we also had a bit of fun with it, yes. Allowing for community participation does seem to work better than doom and gloom newsposts.
It is not a targeted attack against anyone. And if you believe that it is in poor taste – I apologize.
