Topic: SimpleLogin Email Alias

Posted under General

I'm trying to change to my account email to an email alias through SimpleLogin for better online security, however, it throws an error saying the address can't be used. I read in previous posts there's a blacklist of domains to cut down on spam which I'm assuming simplelogin.com is included in. Do I have any recourse? Would it be possible to give an admin the custom domain I have within simplelogin to whitelist? Thank you for any assistance.

There is no way to whitelist a specific domain, once a provider is banned that provider and any domain that uses them cannot be used
Your only recourse is changing providers

Is there a way to check and see what domains are blacklisted? SimpleLogin has other root domains I could perhaps try and use:

aleeas.com
slmail.me
8shield.net
8alias.com
slmails.com
silomails.com
dralias.com
simplelogin.fr

I haven't come across a site which blocks SimpleLogin yet considering it's perfectly reputable. Is there some manner of appeal I could make to unblock the domain?

Thank you

You should know for obvious reasons why domain blacklists are not shared if you have already read the last thread.

You can try messaging the head admin but it is very unlikely they will budge to your appeal if they already have a very good reason to block the domain you are trying to use.

If you're a Firefox user, Mozilla Relay Masks work very well for e621 and just about any other booru-style board I've used so far. You get five of 'em for free when you sign up.

Oddly enough, I've found more sites that reject proton.me addresses than Mozmail masks.

Can't really expect sites to block services barely anybody knows exists
Until now I've never seen anyone else talk about their aliases

Got it, thank you for the suggestion. It isn't hard to guess why the blacklist isn't shared, but I'm the type to at least make an effort rather than just assume failure. As such, I'll shoot a DM to the admin and see where that gets me. I know it'll be a longshot, but it's worth a try.

An update for anyone that may happen across this thread in the future.

simplelogin.com
aleeas.com
slmail.me
8shield.net
8alias.com
slmails.com
silomails.com
dralias.com
simplelogin.fr

I've tested each of the above SimpleLogin's domains with different alias', and every one of them is blocked on e621. I can only assume at some point in the past there was an issue severe enough with spam/bots using easily generated SimpleLogin alias' to create accounts that the admin had to resort to blocking the entire sweep of domains. It's unfortunate, but I suppose anyone using SimpleLogin will need to either use a different alias service for e621, purchase their own domain, or simply accept the need to use their direct email. Maybe in the future this will change.

I can almost guarantee that pretty much all disposable email addresses will end up getting used for wacky nefarious purposes sooner or later, and will end up getting blocked.
Literally thousands of domains are on the blacklist already. That's just the nature of these things.

If i wanted a disposable email address for trolling on this site, i would just use Gmail because of how unassuming such an address would be.

You would need a phone number for creating a Gmail account and there is a maximum number of accounts you can create using the same number.

I would just buy a SIM card at a convenience store just for that.
