Topic: [APPROVED] It's a Plank BUR.

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #10039 is active.

remove alias plank_(ed_edd_and_eddy) (0) -> plank_(eene) (5)
remove alias plank_(ed_edd_n_eddy) (0) -> plank_(eene) (5)
remove implication plank_(character) (16) -> ed_edd_n_eddy (158)

Reason: Don't need both of these tags. Both (eene) and (character) aren't super obvious if you're unfamiliar with the series.

Follow-up:
Alias plank_(ed_edd_and_eddy) -> plank_(ed_edd_n_eddy)
Unalias plank_(eene) -> plank_(ed_edd_n_eddy)
Update plank_(character) -> plank_(ed_edd_n_eddy)
Imply ed_edd_n_eddy -> plank_(ed_edd_n_eddy)

Plank_(character) is left unaliased in case another character named Plank gets posted.

EDIT: The bulk update request #10039 (forum #434825) has been approved by @spe.

I think you got this backward

I can't ever remember which way it goes lol. I'll make sure it's right if this first one gets approved.

Well, I’m fine with this, but note that all the other character tags for this series use the (eene) suffix. It is a fairly confusing suffix, though, so I wouldn’t really mind changing them all to the full name.

The bulk update request #10057 is pending approval.

remove implication ed_(eene) (43) -> ed_edd_n_eddy (158)
remove implication edd_(eene) (37) -> ed_edd_n_eddy (158)
remove implication eddy's_brother_(eene) (1) -> ed_edd_n_eddy (158)
remove implication eddy_(eene) (38) -> ed_edd_n_eddy (158)
remove implication jimmy_(eene) (3) -> ed_edd_n_eddy (158)
remove implication kevin_(eene) (3) -> ed_edd_n_eddy (158)
remove implication sarah_(eene) (2) -> ed_edd_n_eddy (158)
remove implication rolf_(eene) (16) -> ed_edd_n_eddy (158)
remove alias rolf_(ed_and_eddy) (0) -> rolf_(eene) (16)
remove alias rolf_(ed_edd_and_eddy) (0) -> rolf_(eene) (16)

Reason: Get rid of the eenes

I'm against making character tags longer than they need to be

Fair enough, we do usually abbreviate things like cult of the lamb, league of legends, etc

But the eene prefix makes it sound like it got a double bond

"eene" sounds like someone's name, so it's kind of confusing. every time I see it I read it as just like "/ˈiˈnɛ/" and not "E, E, N, E".

would *_(ee&e) or maybe *_(ee'n'e) be better? they'd both be technically wrong, but they're arguably less confusing. but *_(ed_edd_n_eddy) does kinda feel like the best option, honestly. unless you've got a better idea.

I read it that way too and it's not confusing to me 🤷, its the standard abbreviation within the fandom and if you google 'eene' its the only thing that comes up.

No, the full name is the second best option, I just don't think changing the *_(eene) suffixes is particularly helpful or necessary.

we're not "within the fandom", though, we're a furry community serving content for furries.

a bunch of our users aren't going to recognize "eene" as an acronym. both because it looks almost exactly like the kinda dumb username a furry would have, and because it's a non-fandom-relevant series that ended more than two years before some of our users were even born.
