Topic: Tagging self as artist?

Posted under General

Hi hello ! I'm super new to this site and I read up a lot on the tag checklist and such before attempting to post some art I made recently that hasn't been posted elsewhere. I know an artist tag is necessary, but as it is my own art and I don't have a platform anywhere to connect it to, how would I tag it?

Thanks for your time ! [:

You can make a new tag for yourself
Just tag it as the new tag you want, then you can go to the "Tags" tab on the top, go to your new tag, and edit it to be an artist tag

As a shortcut, if a tag does not already exist for an artist such as yourself, you can create it and specify the type as artist at the same time by entering it in as "artist:[artist name here]". Same applies to characters that do not already have an existing tag, if you have OCs you'd want to specify for example, "character:[character name]"

I would also highly recommend clicking the ? by your artist tag after creating it and creating an artist entry and putting your URLs there for twitter, FA, DA, Inkbunny, etc etc.

Thank you for uploading to e621 and for adding in artist tag. :) As you're a self-uploading artist, you might find artist verification to be of interest.

As for your own artist tag, you're free to choose whatever name works for you as long as it can be uniquely attached to you. Sometimes, we have to be a bit creative when a particular name ends up being too similar to others or a common word. If you have multiple names across different sites which people might be searching or tagging you for, you can easily consolidate them into pointing to one main name with an alias or Bulk Update Request. Of course, if you don't have any other place to post your art (although I would recommend that you do, for any pictures you might have that somehow don't meet e621's uploading guidelines), that's fine, too. Just post and tag as usual, leaving the Sources blank.
