Reason:

I've been using the former for a while, but just now I came across v_sign and it actually has 10x as many posts. So.

They aren't the same thing.

Peace sign: ☮, image
V sign: ✌, image

You're technically right, but every peace_sign here is a v_sign (and not only because of my tagging). They're used identically in this case.

(I got the tags mixed up, peace_sign is being used as a disambiguation page, while peace_symbol is aliased to ☮)

Yeah, there's still no good way to merge this tag since it has split usage. I'm thinking maybe we should alias peace_sign -> peace_sign_(disambiguation) and flip the peace_symbol alias so that people (who don't know about the alias) can actually tag it without needing to copy/pasting misc. unicode symbols from wikipedia.
